Autumn in Tuscany : Truffle festival and Olive harvest

Tuscany

Two unique experiences in late autumn: the truffle festival in San Miniato and the olive harvest in the Tuscan hinterland.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at the hotel where you will be greeted by our staff. Hotel and tour presentation during a welcome drink. Dinner with a choice of 3-course menu and a salad and starter buffet.

Day 2: Lucca and Olive harvest

After breakfast we drive to Lucca, the birthplace of the famous composer Giacomo Puccini. During a city walk, we explore the historic center, with its small alleys, unique palaces and churches.

Next we drive to an olive farm. Picked up by tractor and trailer, we are taken up through the olive groves offering romantic views of the whole valley. A unique experience! Mauro, the owner is recognized as one of the best 5 olive growers in Tuscany and gives all his love to the sublime olive trees and their precious fruits.

You can get a glimpse of the olive harvest and try picking a few olives from the tree, if you like.

We can not leave before tasting a few specialties of the house and of course a good glass of wine!

Return to the hotel for dinner with a choice of 3-course menu and a salad and starter buffet.

Day 3: Florence and the Chianti area with wine tasting

Today our goal is Florence, the capital of Tuscany.

Known as the cradle of the Renaissance, the city is world famous for its art treasures.

In the footsteps of the Medici family, we explore the most famous sights : the cathedral with the fantastic dome, the Ponte Vecchio, the Palazzo Vecchio and much more. Florence is like an open-air museum.

Time at leisure. We pass by the famous viewpoint Piazzale Michelangelo as we drive in the direction of the Chianti region and its unique landscapes of cypress trees and vineyards. This is where the famous Sangiovese grape is grown which gives Chianti wine its special taste : Chianti classico, Chianti riserva, the wine with the black rooster.

We stop for a tasting with the best wines of the region and culinary delicacies such as bruschetta, pecorino, prosciutto.

After such an authentic and relaxing break, we are on our way back to the hotel

Dinner with a choice of 3-course menu and a salad and starter buffet.

Day 4: Truffle festival in San Miniato

Today is the biggest truffle festival in Tuscany! Truffle lovers from all over the world come to San Miniato, a small medieval town on the hill, where the biggest white truffle of all time was found!

As you walk past the many stalls all over the city, you can taste, try and buy not only truffles in all variations, but also local specialties such as pecorino cheese, salami, ham and of course sweets. Special truffle delicacies are offered in the bars in the city.
