Day 2 – San Gimignano with lunch on a wine estate
On the way to San Gimignano, the ride is an experience for the senses. Set in the middle of the vineyards and olive groves, the city of towers protrudes like a stupendous castle from a fairy tale book.
Thanks to its strategic position on the most important trade route to the Orient in the Middle Age, San Gimignano flourished through the trade of Vernaccia wine, spices and most of all saffron. Today the 14 remaining towers (out of 72!) are testimonies of the noble families who competed to demonstrate their power and wealth and earned San Gimignano the nickname of “the Manhattan of the Middle Age”.
Take time to appreciate the wonderful landscape, maybe with a glass of chilled Vernaccia wine or the best ice cream in the world, from ice cream champion Dondoli.
On the way back to the hotel, we stop at a pretty winery to enjoy the excellent wines and regional specialities sitting in the shade of the trees and overlooking the wonderful landscapes of the Chianti region.
Return to the hotel, dinner with a salad and starter buffet and 3-course menu of your choice.
Day 3 – Lerici and Portovenere by coach and boat
On our way to the Ligurian east coast, we drive past Versilia displaying beautiful views of the Apuan Alps, world-famous for its Carrara marble.
Approaching Lerici, we have a breathtaking view of the Gulf of La Spezia and Lerici. We follow the beautiful panorama path and arrive at the pier. From there a boat takes us to the charming village of Portovenere, a world heritage site.
Built on a temple of Venus, the small church of San Pietro protrudes from the rock. The characteristic tower houses in bright colors adorn the promenade. We return by ship to Lerici, where the coach is waiting for us.
Return to the hotel for dinner with a salad and starter buffet and a 3-course menu of your choice.
Day 4 – Day at leisure or half day in Montecatini Alto
We take the over-100- year-old funicular up from Montecatini Terme to Montecatini Alto. The views from the funicular are fantastic and embrace the entire Nievole valley. Once at the top, you can explore the historical part of Montecatini on a short walk. The small church and the characteristic piazza with many small restaurants and trattorias. You can enjoy a glass of wine or a meal as you wish. The funicular runs almost until midnight, which gives you the opportunity to enjoy great views of the lights of Montecatini Terme in the evening.
Return to the hotel, dinner with a salad and starter buffet and a 3-course menu of your choice.

It is time to take the ferry back to the mainland and then the coach to the hotel at sunset.
